After a week-ten days with temperatures 95-105, the crabgrass is really happy. The wiregrass in the boxwood is getting out of hand, too. It's so hard to trace it back to the main root.
The flowebed by the sidewalk - the one I've been treating with corn gluten - has remained mostly free of seed-sewn weeds. The ground ivy, wire grass, and crabgrass still creep in. I will definitely expand my use of the stuff as a chemical-free way to fight weeds. I also found the absurdly simple chore of pouring boiling water on weeds (especially in the cracks of the patio and front walk paving stones) to work well. Don't know how well it will keep stuff from coming up again, though.
Most everything has been slowed up by the hot, mostly dry weather. Cucumbers coming along nicely. Squirrels keep stealing green tomatoes, so we've had none.
