Crabgrass (not pictured)

I try to do about an hour of work in the yard 2-4 times a week. This morning I planned to pull some of the vine weeds out of the azalea by the front door -- I noticed them (two different kinds!) when V from next door popped by to return the cat's collar. Doing that made me notice weeds all over the front yard: violets mixed in with the alyssum, wiregrass in the boxwood, sorrel in the zinneas, and crabgrass everywhere. I see crabgrass splatting and spidering everywhere when I close my eyes.

But I took pictures of the plants! Possibly with too much bright morning sun on them!

all spring and summer, I thought I should have pruned these more; now I think they look fabulous!

black-eyed susans

zinnias and lantana

this picture does not do this justice: the striped monkey grass and alyssum are terrific together
