My nostalgic mood today says: Boogie On Reggae Woman, Dontcha Worry Bout a Thing, and maybe some Earth Wind & Fire. But whatever - play what you want - it's going to be a great time! -Elaine

i do concur with the abba nominations. i have a special place in my heart for queen (fat-bottomed girls, bohemian rhapsody, somebody to love), but i've no idea whether that's too classy for you and your friends. you know. it is royalty, after all. and there's always the funk contingent: brick house by the commodores, you sexy thing (hot chocolate). how about i think i love you by the partridge family? for once in my life (there are lots of good versions out there)?
i lobbied for all things (just keep getting better) by widelife, but it didn't make it onto our play list. we kept it brief.
if you have any carolina shaggers, good beach music is fab. with this ring (the platters), miss grace (the tymes), and of course buttercup.
all 80s are good. take on me (a-ha), erasure (a little respect). man, were we hip then. asymmetrical haircuts and unmatched earrings. trip me slam out.
anyway, all i can say is to pick maybe five or eight must-play songs, a few beloved genres or categories, and let your dj do the rest. they know what dances well and how to read a crowd.
"Brick House" The Commodores "Funkytown" Lipps Inc. "The Lovecats" The Cure "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)" Al Green "Up for the Down Stroke" Parliment "Wild Thing" The Troggs "One Step Beyond" Madness "We Got the Beat" The Go-Go's "My Girl" The Temptations "Superstition" Stevie Wonder "I Got You (I Feel Good)" James Brown "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" The Ramones

Abba, Sister Sledge, The Village People. Ya want us folks born in the 50's to dance?
